Description:

Psyllium is a mild laxative, & it contains 80% soluble fibre. The main chemical ingredient of Psyllium is mucilage, which is very useful in chronic constipation, piles or hemorrhoids & colon cancer. Psyllium husk significantly cantly increases the level of stool moisture as well as wet and dry stool weight and shorten gastrointestinal transit time. It has also soothing effects on the gastric & intestinal mucosa and is hence effective in gastric irritation and ulceration. Psyllium also lowers serum cholesterol levels (LDL) & reduces blood glucose, that is suitable for obese & diabetic patients.

Active ingredients:

Psyllium is classified as a mucilaginous fiber due to its powerful ability to form gel in water. This ability comes from its role as the endo-sperm of the P. ovata seed, where it’s function is to retain water in order to prevent the seed from drying out.

Psyllium husk contains:

• High proportion of hemicel luloses
• Arabinose
• Rhamnose
• Galacturonic acid
• 35% soluble and 65% insoluble polysaccharides.

Indication and Use:

• Constipation
• As laxative
• Diarrhoea
• Inflammation of the intestinal
• Intestinal infection
• Gastric irritation & Ulceration 
• Chronic dysentery and piles
• Hyperlipidemia.

Dosage:

Adult and children over 12 years: 1 teaspoonful Herboclean powder 2 to 3 times daily with a glass of water.

Children from 6 to 12 years: 2 to 3.5 gm (½ to 1 teaspoonful Herboclean powder) 1 to 2 times daily.

Children below 6 years: Not recommended except as directed by the physician.

Mode of Administration: Herboclean should be taken 30 to 60 minutes before or after taking other medicines. Herboclean should be taken after meal. An additional glass of water is helpful after taking Herboclean.

Side effect: Sometimes flatulence, abdominal distention, and intestinal obstruction have been observed.

Contraindication: It is not advisable to take dry herbal powder by mouth and use it with laxatives.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation: No adverse effect of Herboclean has been reported.

Storage: Store in a cool and dry place; protect from light. Keep out of reach of the children.
